Get Legal Help

Helping individuals understand their rights, navigate available pathways, and connect with appropriate sources of information, support, and assistance.

How the Process Works

Understanding what happens after you submit your request.

Every legal situation is unique. Accordingly, the support process may vary depending on the nature of the request, the information provided, organisational capacity, and the most appropriate support pathway available.

The following overview explains how LEAP generally handles requests for assistance.

  1. Step 1 – Submit Your Request

Complete the Legal Help Request Form by providing information about your situation and the type of assistance you are seeking. The more accurate and complete the information, the better we can understand your request.

  2. Step 2 – Initial Review

LEAP’s team will conduct an initial review of your request to better understand the nature of the issue and identify potential support pathways.

  3. Step 3 – Assessment

Where necessary, we may seek additional information or clarification to better understand your circumstances and determine the most appropriate course of action.

  4. Step 4 – Support Pathway Identification

Based on the information available, LEAP may identify suitable forms of support, which could include legal information, educational resources, guidance, referrals, or other appropriate assistance.

  5. Step 5 – Referral or Assistance

Where appropriate, individuals may be connected with relevant professionals, institutions, legal aid bodies, community organisations, volunteers, or other support mechanisms.

  6. Step 6 – Follow-Up

Where feasible and appropriate, LEAP may undertake follow-up communication to provide additional guidance or share further information regarding available support pathways.

Important Note

Every request is carefully considered. However, submission of a request does not guarantee that assistance will be provided.

Support remains subject to organisational capacity, available resources, expertise, and the suitability of the request. In some cases, LEAP may recommend alternative organisations or institutions better placed to provide assistance.

Every request deserves careful consideration, respectful engagement, and a clear understanding of available pathways.

Frequently Asked Questions

Answers to some of the questions we are most commonly asked.

LEAP may provide legal information, guidance, educational resources, referrals, and support pathways. Whether specific legal advice or assistance can be provided depends on the nature of the request, available expertise, organisational capacity, and applicable legal or ethical considerations.

Not necessarily.

LEAP is not a law firm, and the Foundation may not provide direct legal representation. Depending on the circumstances, individuals may be referred to appropriate lawyers, legal aid institutions, or other relevant organisations.

LEAP seeks to strengthen access to justice through not-for-profit initiatives. Most information, guidance, awareness initiatives, and support pathways are intended to be provided without charge. However, the nature and scope of support may evolve as the Foundation grows.

Yes.

Anyone seeking information, guidance, referrals, or support relating to access-to-justice challenges may submit a request. Every request is reviewed individually, although acceptance remains subject to organisational priorities, available resources, expertise, and capacity.

Response times may vary depending on the complexity of the request, the volume of enquiries received, and the Foundation’s available capacity. LEAP will endeavour to review requests as promptly as reasonably possible.

LEAP seeks to handle all information responsibly and in accordance with applicable privacy, confidentiality, and data protection practices. Information shared with the Foundation will only be used for purposes connected with reviewing the request and providing appropriate support, where possible.

Yes, where appropriate.

If you are seeking assistance for a family member, friend, child, senior citizen, or another individual who may be unable to submit a request themselves, you may complete the form on their behalf. Please provide accurate information and explain your relationship to the individual wherever possible.

If LEAP is unable to provide assistance directly, the Foundation may, where appropriate, share information regarding alternative institutions, professionals, legal aid authorities, government bodies, or community organisations that may be better placed to help.

Submitting a request does not guarantee that assistance will be provided.

Every request is carefully reviewed, and the nature of any support depends on organisational capacity, available resources, expertise, suitability, and the circumstances of the individual case.

We believe that clear information helps people make informed decisions. If your question is not answered here, please feel free to contact LEAP or submit a Legal Help Request.
